On Monday 8 September, Tomkin marked a remarkable milestone - 50 years of serving Australia’s hospitality industry. Friends, partners, and colleagues gathered at one of Sydney’s most iconic waterfront venues for an evening of reflection, connection, and celebration.
Guiding the night’s program was none other than Darren Robertson, one of Australia’s most renowned chefs and a passionate advocate for local, sustainable produce.
Darren brought warmth, charisma, and industry insight to the role of Master of Ceremonies. Best known as co-owner and Culinary Director of the acclaimed Three Blue Ducks group and Rocker Bondi, Darren oversees six vibrant venues along Australia’s east coast.
With a career that spans leadership at Tetsuya’s (once ranked among the world’s top five restaurants), co-authoring three cookbooks, appearing on beloved TV shows such as MasterChef and Recipe to Riches, and shaping national events as Festival Director of Tasting Australia, Darren is a true culinary force. His work as an Ambassador for OzHarvest and the Cancer Council, and as a Friend of Tourism Australia, further highlights his deep commitment to community and industry.
